What is EFT tapping?
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), also known as tapping, is a form of alternative and holistic therapy that combines elements of traditional Chinese medicine (acupressure) with modern psychology. It involves tapping on specific points on the body, primarily on the head and face, while focusing on specific emotional issues or stressors.
How does EFT work?
EFT is a tapping technique that works by combining cognitive and exposure therapy principles with acupressure. We start by identifying the issue, this can be emotional or physical. When we made the issue clear we start tapping on the issue and we will tune in on the frequency. Tuning in is crucial as it brings the emotional and physical distress into your awareness, allow the tapping to work.
Benefits of EFT
Mental
- Reduce Stress and Anxiety:
Tapping on acupressure points can help calm the nervous system, reducing levels of cortisol (stress hormone) and promoting relaxation. - Manage Emotions:
It can help individuals process and release negative emotions such as fear, anger, sadness, or guilt, allowing them to experience greater emotional balance and resilience. - Overcome Limiting Beliefs: Challenge and reframe limiting beliefs or negative self-talk. By tapping on specific statements or affirmations, individuals can shift their mindset and cultivate more empowering beliefs.
- Promote Self-Acceptance: Through the process and verbalizing thoughts and feelings, individuals can cultivate greater self-awareness, self-compassion and self-acceptance.
Physical
- Relieve Physical Symptoms: Some people use tapping to alleviate physical symptoms such as pain, tension, headaches, or digestive issues. By addressing underlying emotional stressors, it’s believed that physical symptoms may diminish.
- Improve Performance: Athletes, performers, and professionals often use EFT to manage performance anxiety, boost confidence, and enhance focus and concentration.
- Support Trauma Recovery:
Can be used as part of trauma therapy to help process and release traumatic memories or emotional wounds in a gentle and non-invasive way.
EFT Tapping can enhance overall wellbeing. Regular practice of EFT tapping is believed to contribute to overall emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing by reducing stress, improving emotional regulation and fostering a sense of inner peace and harmony.
- EFT Tapping
Tapping was completely new to me. Tapping and naming my complaint would reduce the pain. I wanted to try this because nothing had helped so far. And indeed, after a few minutes I felt relief from the nagging pain in my arm. Eva clearly explains what you need to do and guides you in a pleasant way. I am looking forward to next week to focus on my emotional health.
